Kaspersky Security Center 9 Web Console

Posted on by admin

I have the web console and apache installed locally on the security center 9 server, but no matter what I try, I cannot get logged in. I've tried logging in as the same domain account that the service as running as, and I've tried adding users to 'internal users' within the admin console, but I keep getting 'Authorization error. Check the entered data or contact your service provider administrator.' I have tried multiple variations under 'Specify Administration Server' ranging from leaving it blank to FQDN, Loopack address or localhost. The apache error logs don't seem to be showing anything meaningful. I have run through the readme.txt file attached and everything checks out. Can somebody advise please?

In fact, they went so far as to say they don't recommend that you use it because of its limited functionality. However, for us, it offers the most critical tasks, and is much better than installing the console on every administrators' computer.

Is anybody using this? Were you able to get authentication working, if so how? Where are you managing users? Have you created a virtual server in KSC9? Web-console connects only to virtual servers. Process of creating virtual server asks to set an user account with which to connect to this specific virtual server among other settings.

Thanks for the response. If it's true that the web-console only connect to virtual servers, that is extremely disappointing, but that would be why it's not working. I didn't create a virtual administration server because the documentation was very unclear. Can anybody from Kaspersky clarify the reasoning behind this and if it will change in the future? From pages 39-40 of the, I see the following. Thanks for the response.

Can anybody from Kaspersky clarify the reasoning behind this and if it will change in the future? Am I missing something here? I would say that this product is a little bit too soon for it's time. Documentation is indeed not clear enought and not a lot off admin have migrated yet. Be patient Kaspersky dev team will come up with a virtual environement solution for the KSC v9 console. Im not from Kaspersky, but in my understanding of the feature - web-console is part of KSC9 service provide edition (SPE), designed for the needs of software as service. There is a server and a database in one point delivering service through update agent (policies, tasks, installation packages, updates) to a remote point, managed by web-console. It differs from management of branches of the same company, (if or) where you can set up traditional master-slave structure of the management. Virtual server does not need dedicated computer (as does slave server with service started and database started) at remote spot, all data (of virtual servers) is stored in 'master' server. SPE is not designed for remote management of master server, which can be set up by means of any remote desktop service (as before). The standard KSC9 allows 10 virtual servers.
